The Estonian government approved on Thursday of handing over real estate units near the Tallinn Seaplane Harbour from justice ministry to interior ministry in order to erect the European Union IT agency's permanent headquarters building there, interior ministry press department announced LETA.

The location was chosen by the agency among locations offered by the interior ministry and State Real Estate Company (RKAS). The new building will be erected at Vesilennuki 5, 7 and 9 lots, which enables to ensure an appropriate amount of real estate, considering also the agency's development needs, said Interior Minister Hanno Pevkur.

In December, Pevkur signed an agreement between Estonia and the IT agency under which the agency's headquarters will be built in Tallinn. Estonian promised to build office space for up to 100 people and give it free to the agency to use.

Estonia's budget strategy for the period 2014-2017 provides for EUR 8.4 million to build the premises of the agency.
