Baltics register growth in car registrations in March

New passenger car registrations in Latvia increased by 25.7% in March 2015, which is the largest largest increase among all European countries covered by the latest report of the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (EAMA), reports LETA.

Estonia registered 1,946 new passenger cars in March, while Lithuania registered 1,269 new passengers cars, which was by 13.6% and 11.7%, respectively, more than in March 2014.

 

The report summarizes data on all the European Union's (EU) member states, except Malta. The report contains information also on the EFTA states – Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland.

Latvia registered a total of 1,233 new passenger cars in March, as compared with 981 in the respective month of 2014.

 

The largest growth was recorded in Iceland – 81.9%, Portugal – 41.8%, Spain – 40.5%, and Ireland – 32.9%.

 

The largest fall in new passenger car registrations was recorded in Poland – 6.3%, and the Netherlands – 1.1%.

 

A total of 1.65 million new passenger cars were registered in European countries which were covered by the report. This is 10.8% more than in March 2014.

 

The EU recorded 1.6 million new passenger cars in March, which is 10.6% more than in the respective month of 2014. EU passenger car registrations recorded growth for the 19th consecutive month.
