New light-vehicle registrations in Baltics rose over 9% in Q1

Analysis of processed registrations’ data performed by AV Automotive Research / AutoTyrimai, based on source data obtained from Regitra (Lithuania), CSDD (Latvia) and Maanteeamet (Estonia), shows that new light-vehicle (M1&N1) registrations in the Baltic States increased by 9.4% to 14’027 units in I quarter 2015, reports BC press service of AutoTyrimai.

Lithuanian market became the fastest-growing one and maintained second position in the region (+12.8% to 4’340 units). Latvian market was second by growth rate, but it remained the smallest by volume (+8.5% to 3’746 units). Meanwhile Estonian market kept the first place in the region (5’941 units) but its growth was the smallest (+7.6%). 

 

Estonia firmly holds its position as the largest market in the Baltic States, accounting for 42.4% of the total, while Lithuania and Latvia respectively had 30.9% and 26.7% shares. When calculated per 1’000 inhabitants, Lithuania remains in the worst position: its result is just 1.49, while Latvian one is 1.89 and Estonia is still the clear leader here with 4.53. 

 

There were 11’895 passenger cars (+8.6%) and 2’132 light commercial vehicles (+13.9%) registered in the Baltic States in I quarter 2015. The best performing makes (brands) were Volkswagen (1’630 units), Skoda (1’556 units), Toyota (1’528 units), Nissan (1’138 units) and Fiat (907 units). The most popular models were Skoda Octavia (748 units), Nissan Qashqai (709 units), Fiat 500 (518 units), Volkswagen Passat (325 units) and Skoda Yeti (324 units).
