Lithuanian fish products will go to Brazil

BC, Vilnius, 06.04.2015.Print version
Lithuanian fish product manufacturers have received great news – Brazil's market will open up for their production, reports LETA/ELTA.

The news was delivered to Lithuania's State Food and Veterinary Service by the head of the Sanitary and Phytosanitary Negotiations Department of Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply.

Lithuania's negotiations on veterinary requirements and harmonisation of documents with the responsible Brazilian institution lasted nearly two years.

"Currently, Lithuania's fish processing companies export to more than 30 countries in the world. I know that many companies have near-term development plans related to Brazil. They are looking for partners to help them to get established in probably the largest market of South America," said Dr Jonas Milius, director of the State Food and Veterinary Service.

Lithuania is also currently conducting intense negotiations with Brazil on dairy exports.
