The Baltic traders' alliance Aibe consolidated turnover in Latvia and Lithuania reached EUR 409 million in 2014, which is 18% more compared with 2013, CEO of Latvian traders' co-op Aibe Uldis Priekulis informed LETA.

The company's sales revenue in Latvia amounted to EUR 131 million, which is 22% more than in 2013.

According to Priekulis, the increase can be explained with the large number of discounts and affordable prices, as well as the centralized product supply to the alliance's partners.

"Retail companies need to unite in order to boost suppliers' interest in offering better and more beneficial cooperation terms. Each supermarket constantly receives goods from the central warehouses, as well as from direct suppliers. The alliance follows a single strategy of advertising communication, price discounts, loyalty programs. The partners are provided with funding for the procurement of new premises, restoration of the existing ones, as well as constriction of new supermarkets," said Priekulis.

He indicated that this year, the alliance plans on increasing the number of supermarkets by about 5%, at the same time restoring 30 supermarkets, expanding the offer, and stabilizing product positions in rural areas.

Latvian traders' cooperation Aibe deals with logistics, services for the company's network partners, and retail trade. The company owns more than 1,090 supermarkets in Latvia and Lithuania.

Latvian traders' cooperation Aibe was founded in 2002. The company's share capital is EUR 24,188. The largest shareholder is Lithuania-based UAB Aljanses Aibe (91.94%).
