Agriculture, Baltic Export, Good for Business, Legislation, Lithuania, Markets and Companies

Ambassador Maimon said that Israel's agricultural sector is highly developed. Even though it accounts only for 2 percent of Israel's economy, yet it almost fully satisfies the country's demand for food. Lithuanian agriculture minister was mostly interested in Israel's dairy sector, which is subsidised. Prices for certain milk and bread products are fixed and equal everywhere.

The ambassador invited Lithuania to participate in the agriculture technology exhibition Agritech Israel 2015 which is to take place on 28-30 April in Tel Aviv. The ambassador said this would be a great opportunity for the agriculture ministers to meet and for specialists to discuss bilateral cooperation opportunities.

In turn, Baltraitiene offered the ambassador and Israeli agriculture minister to attend the World Dairy Summit that will take place in Lithuania on 17-24 September.

According to the statistics of early 2014, Lithuanian origin goods accounted for 99% of agricultural and food products exported to Israel. Export to Israel surpassed import by 5.6 times.
