Sales of non-store retailing jump in Lithuania in 2014

BC, Vilnius, 02.02.2015.Print version
The year's 2014 substantial growth in Lithuania's internet retailing pushed up the sales of non-store retailing in the country. As Lithuanians show ever-increasing trust in online retailing services, the country's sales grew significantly, reports LETA/ELTA.

In 2014, many new companies started e-commerce for their core business activities, Euromonitor International says in a report.

The online trade company Pigu UAB is the leader of non-store retailing in Lithuania. The company's retail sales stand at LTL 123 million/EUR 35.6 million (sales tax excluded), which accounted for 11 percent of total non-store retailing. Last year, Pigu UAB was the fastest growing retailer in the country.

Online retailing will probably to keep on boosting the sales of non-store retailing in the next year, Euromonitor International believes. One of the reasons for this is that younger people tend to use their laptops and smartphones on a daily basis, a habit which is projected to play a huge role for the internet retailing development. Mobile commerce as well is expected to grow thanks to the so-called digital natives of the younger generation.
