Pre-tax profit of Lithuanian enterprises grows by 23% in 9 months

In the first nine months of 2014, Lithuanian companies earned EUR 2.7 billion in pre-tax profit or by 23% more compared with the relevant period of 2013, reports LETA/ELTA.

Pre-tax profit increased in all sectors of economy, with an exception of forestry and fisheries, transport and storage, and accommodation and food services. Pre-tax profit of construction companies increased the most, by 75% and reached half of profit earned in 2008.

 

The average profitability of enterprises in 2014 was 4.7%, by 0.6 percentage points more than in 2013. The most profitable were enterprises engaged in business services (15% profitability) and IT and telecommunications services (11.1% profitability). The least profitable were enterprises engaged in trade (3.3% profitability) and in accommodation and food services (2.9%).

 

Based on 2013-2014 nine month results, it has been noticed that profits of companies grew twice as fast compared with expenditure on employees, 22 and 11% respectively.
