In 2014, the majority of investments were registered in Riga, Jurmala, and Marupe Region; meanwhile, companies that made the largest investments were registered in Riga, Jelgava, and Liepaja, reports LETA, according to Lursoft.

The analysis of changes in investment activity in Latvia finds that Daugavpils is no longer on the list of five largest cities and regions which registered the largest number of investments. It has now been replaced by Babite Region. The company that invested the most in enterprises in Babite Region last year is Ostermalm Property Investments Limited, the total amount of the company's investments in Babite Region reached EUR 13.21 million in 2014.

The largest investment in Babite Region in 2014 was made by the Swiss company Divertimento Investment AG, which invested EUR 7.2 million in Jurmala Golf Course share capital (previously known as Saliena Golf Course).

Taking into account that the majority of companies in Latvia are registered in Riga (60% of start-ups were registered in Riga in 2014), it is logical that Riga registered the largest number of investments. Lursoft data indicate that in 2014, a total of 4,824 investment agreements were registered in Riga, which is 28 times more than in Jurmala, which is in second place.

The largest investments in Riga in 2014 were made by S.P.I. Regional Business Unit B.V. that invested EUR 104.54 million in the newly-registered Amber Beverage Group, followed by Merko Ehitus, which invested EUR 62.18 million in Merko Investments.

In 2014, Riga registered 16 cases involving an investment of more than ten million euros. The average sum invested by foreign companies in Riga was EUR 2,800. The total amount of investments in Riga in 2014 increased by EUR 119.31 million.
