EU – Baltic States, Good for Business, Latvia, Tourism

Persons are able to go on-line and vote for their favorite destination. The on-line voting will take place from January 20 to February 10 at the following web-site – www.europeanbestdestinations.com/vote.

In the first week of voting, Riga is amongst the top ten cities receiving votes, LETA was informed by Riga Tourism Development Bureau spokeswoman Anna Blaua.

Riga is competing with such cities as Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Berlin, Bordeaux, Brussels, Innsbruck, Lisbon, Ljubljana, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris, Reykjavik, Rome, Istanbul, Valletta, Vienna and Zagreb.

The winner of the prestigious title will gain extra publicity in the global media as Europe’s best destination for 2015. Cities also compete for being included on the Top 10 list, and thus also will gain extra publicity in various media by being ranked as one of the Top 10 destinations in Europe. The competition is organized by European Best Destinations travel organization, which is based in Brussels.

Last year, the Portuguese city of Porto was named Europe’s Best Destination.
