A total of 47 Latvian movies will have their premieres in 2015; 42 of them were produced in collaboration with the National Film Center of Latvia, as the Center's head Dita Rietuma said, cites LETA.

The list includes five feature films, four short feature films, 27 documentaries, and 11 animated films.

Director Laila Pakalnina's "Dawn" ("Ausma") will have its premiere already in the summer of 2015. The Latvian-Polish coproduction is a tale of perplexity of values during the Soviet era when confused by different ideals and principles, father betrayed son and son betrayed father. The film is a harsh portrait of propaganda and its consequences as well as the danger of authority's manipulation with people's minds.

Director Viesturs Kairiss' "Chronicles of Melanie" will be premiered in the fall of 2015. The movie was inspired by the Latvian writer Melanija Vanaga's autobiographic novel "Velupes krasta". The movie tells about Melanija and her eight-year-old son Andrejs, who were forcibly separated from her husband and his father after deported to Siberia by Stalin's regime.

Meanwhile, Davis Simanis' "My Peaceful Place of Exile", which will be premiered in the fall of 2015, will feature the German actor Ulrich Matthes.

These and many other Latvian movies which will have their premieres this year, were made in collaboration with the National Film Center of Latvia, following a special competition for new films.
