On Monday, January 12, Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma held a meeting with a high-level delegation of the city of Shanghai (China) and entrepreneurs, reports BC press secretary to the Prime Minister Aiva Rozenberga.

The discussion was aimed at introducing the Shanghai delegation to the Latvian economy and investment opportunities, and discussing concrete cooperation between the food industry companies of Shanghai and China. The meeting was also attended by the management of Food Union and Bright Food (Shanghai).

During the discussion, Laimdota Straujuma referred to the recent meeting with the Prime Minister of China in December 2014, during which it was emphasized that the gateway to the Chinese market is open for Latvian food products, especially meat and dairy products.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction over the fact that Food Union could soon start cooperation with Bright Food because this company takes 20-30% of the Chinese food industry.
