Ekspress Grupp will organise Titanic exhibition in Riga

Estonian media group Ekspress Grupp will invest 400,000 euros in making sure Latvians could see the Titanic exhibition, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

"On 27th of November 2014, AS Ekspress Grupp signed an agreement with the owner of the Titanic exhibits from USA, to carry out an exhibition about the MS Titanic what sank during its first voyage in 1912. The exhibition will be opened in Riga, Latvia, during the first quarter of the year 2015. AS Ekspress Grupp will invest approximately 400 000 euros into organizing the exhibition," the company informed the Tallinn Stock exchange.

 

In Estonia, 220,000 people visited the exhibition "Titanic: The story, findings, legends" in the Seaplane Harbour on 15 November 2013 – 31 March 2014, which broke the record for the Estonian museums.

 

The figures summed up in April showed that exhibition earned a profit of nearly one million euros for the Seaplane Harbour.

 

In order to bring the exhibition in Tallinn, license fees, transport, construction materials, and many other things cost a total of 700 000 euros, plus the additional payroll costs of the Seaplane Harbour.
