This year’s convention focuses on developing e-democracy and Estonia’s success in the field of information technology. The convention hosts are President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and the foundation Enterprise Estonia.

On Thursday the convention began with a seminar at Enterprise Estonia, titled “Global Estonians – Contributing to World without Borders”. On Thursday evening, visitors were able to attend the ERSO (Estonian National Symphonic Orchestra), concert, with conductors Neeme Järvi and Taavo Virkhaus.

Friday’s symposium “Quo vadis, Estonia?” is the focal event of the convention, with the focus on e-democracy, e-Governance and their role in modern societies. Presentations were given by President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and by Andrew M. Thompson, the founder and Director of Proteus Digital Health.

On Friday morning, Friends of Estonia met with Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas.

The idea for an international convention for the so-called “Friends of Estonia” club was coined in 2010, to thank entrepreneurs, politicians and people active in the field of culture who have helped Estonia to develop into a European country with a dynamic economy and creative cultural environment and who might have key roles in bringing foreign investments to Estonia.

In 2014, more than hundred entrepreneurs, politicians and opinion leaders from 21 countries convened in Tallinn.
