Latvia becomes full-fledged OECD member

Latvia became a full-fledged member of he Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on Friday, July 1, as the Instrument of Accession of Latvia to the OECD was deposited with the French Foreign Ministry, writes BNS/LETA.

The French government, the depositary of the OECD Convention, will now inform the OECD member states regarding this fact, and the date of Latvia's accession to the organization will be noted in a resolution of the OECD Council.


As reported, on June 2 in Paris, Latvian Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis (Greens/Farmers) and Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of the OECD, signed the Agreement on Accession of Latvia to the OECD.


On June 16, Saeima ratified Latvia's accession agreement with the OECD, which came into effect on June 30
