Riga Technical University hosts Latvian Robotic Championship
Latvian Robotics Championships have been organized since 2007. The goal is to foster children and young people's interest in mechanical engineering and robotics, one of the fastest-growing technology sectors at the moment, said one of the organizers of the championship, RTU Design Workshop's senior expert Gundars Miezitis.
Participants will compete in seven categories: Linefollower, Mini Sumo, Lego Sumo, iRobot Sumo, Mega Sumo, Freestyle, and Folkrace.
The championship is organized by the RTU Robotics Club, RTU Electronics and Telecommunications Department, and Latvian Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry Association.
According to RTU representatives, Latvian robotics enthusiasts can take pride in winning many prestigious international robotics competitions, including Robotex in Estonia, RobotChallenge in Austria, RoboGames in the United States, and International Robot Sumo Tournament in Japan.
