The limited partnership "Expo 2015" has filed a EUR 415,103 claim against the Economy Ministry in Latvia, as "Expo 2015" representatives informed LETA.

According to the company's representatives, "Expo 2015" has filed a new claim against the Economy Ministry over production services that the ministry has not paid for in the amount of EUR 106,844, as well as for a bank guarantee in the amount of EUR 308,259 that the ministry had requested in violation of the law.

In addition to the company's previous claim - EUR 43,991 - filed in April, and the EUR 342 legal costs related to the execution of the contract, the total amount of the claim is therefore EUR 464,732.

"Expo" representatives also indicate that the State Audit Office and State Revenue Service have carried out inspections regarding the "Expo" project, and found no wrongdoing on the part of "Expo 2015".

"Unfortunately, it seems that the Economy Ministry's efforts to find the guilty parties at any cost in matters where there are none are drawing the attention away from the true saboteurs and those who cause the losses," according to the "Expo 2015" announcement. "Setting up commissions and drawing up resolutions about the limited partnership without asking the partnership a single question undermines any trust in these resolutions. The ministry's desire to find the guilty party at any cost in order to avoid responsibility for the project is becoming increasingly more evident."

As reported, the government decided on January 27 that Latvia will not participate in the international "World Expo 2015" fair in Milan this year.

Latvia has taken part in the fair three times so far - in 1935 in Brussels, Belgium, in 2000 in Hanover, Germany, and in 2010 in Shanghai, China.

The last two exhibitions did not go smoothly for Latvia. In Hanover, Latvia was criticized for a poorly-prepared pavilion, whereas the Shanghai pavilion was completed at the last minute.

A scandal overshadowed Shanghai as the Latvian Investment and Development Agency accused Aerodium, the company that built Latvia's pavilion, of fraud, whereas Aerodium alleged that the agency's head - Andris Ozols, had demanded a bribe from the company.
