Experts from 20 countries will discuss trends in the European ICT market in Riga

One of the most important ICT events in the Baltic State region will be held in Riga from August 10 to August 13, 2015: the fifth anniversary International Telecommunications Conference and Exhibition TELCO TRENDS 2015 will start at the hotel Radisson Blu Hotel Latvija.

About 400 guests from 20 countries are expected – industry experts, businessmen, developers and government representatives from the EU and the CIS. Topics of the conference: a single digital market, TV, OTT, 4G, start-ups, Apps.

Naturally, this important forum is being held in Latvia. The country is successfully implementing the Europe 2020 strategy, which provides that in the EU will be widely deployed broadband network after 5 years: all the inhabitants of the EU will be able to access the Internet at speed of over 30 Mbit/s. Now Latvia takes one of the first places in the EU in terms of infrastructure construction; but at the same time rates both of the Internet and mobile communications remain the lowest in Europe.

At Telco Trends, industry experts will tell how much effort and money is required to create „broadband paradise”, how the operators manage to keep prices low for large-scale investment into infrastructure and which effect new legislative initiatives of Brussels have on the business.

Board Chairman of the Latvia State Radio and Television Centre (LSRTC) Janis Bokta will inform about the project of the national optical network of broadband Internet. His colleagues from the Estonian Levira will tell about a similar experience of their country. The topic of digital dividends will be raised up – the deployment of broadband infrastructure in a range of 800 MHZ. Mobile operators will speak before the audience, including the company Triatel, working in CDMA-450, which will share its vision.

Director of Communications Department of Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia Edmunds Belskis will talk about the implementation of the program “Digital Europe”. Representatives of Public Utilities Commission will tell about the new regulations and future changes in the industry. The presentation of BEREC (European Regulators for Electronic Communications) is expected.

When the infrastructure is all right, the green light is given for the development of various high-tech projects. Experts of the Ministry of Economics of Latvia, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA), representatives of the funds and business angels will inform how to do business in Europe, create successful start-ups and receive support from Euro Funds.

Senior Investment Advisor of LIAA Indra Freiberga will hold a presentation:

 

“The Benefits of Establishing a Business in Latvia. The Investment Climate”. Senior Expert in EU Funds Implementation Department at Ministry of Economics Zaiga Kronberga van Ramesdonk will inform about the EU funds and funding programs planned for the opening. In his turn, the business angel Nikolay Adamovich will share the successful experience of launching start-ups in Latvia on the basis of scientific developments of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Latvia and Russia. 

Traditionally, the topics related to the implementation of the pay TV projects will be well-developed at Telco Trends: the experts will discuss the technical details, the protection of copyright, legislative initiatives related to the universal development of OTT services.

 

Representatives of the world's leading brands, such as ASTRO Strobel, PPC Denmark, BKTEL etc. will present their know-how. The forum participants will learn how to protect and increase operators' revenues from the report of Irdeto experts.

The general partner of Telco Trends 2015 – SES – will speak about the global television trends and Ultra HD. Performance of EUTELSAT is expected.

The conference is attended by heads of industry associations of the EU and CIS countries.

 

They will illuminate the situation in the ICT markets of the Baltic States, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. And of course, they will help to establish contacts to businessmen who are interested to find partners in these countries.

In the evening, participants of Telco Trends can relax on the beach, in a beach restaurant of Jurmala “36.Line”: watching the sunset with a cocktail in hand and live entertainment. Excitable fishing of sturgeons and trout will conclude the four day forum.
