Criminal case opened on "Expo 2015" fiasco for Latvia

Print versionThe Prosecutor General's Office in Latvia has opened a criminal case to determine what and who exactly was behind Latvia's non-participation in "Expo Milano 2015", but spending over EUR 1 million for it, informs LETA.

Prosecutors intend to examine suspected deliberate action taken by government officials, malicious use of high office, if the fallout is serious, and the spending of 1,173,312.00 euros, in tandem with the final decision to drop out.
Press secretary for Economy Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola said that the ministry has no information on which specific officials prosecutors are "going after".
