Room of Cents in Siauliai pretending to become a Guinness World Record

Danuta Pavilenene, BC, Vilnius, 17.02.2015.Print version
On Monday, Siauliai University's library opened the door of a unique Room of Cents. As the room's ceiling, walls and furniture is covered in the expired Lithuanian cents, the object is a candidate to become a Guinness World Record, besides being a monument to the former Lithuanian currency, reports LETA/ELTA, referring to Lietuvos rytas.

One of the walls is decorated with a map of Lithuania where smaller towns are marked with coins of LTL 50, 20, and 10 cents, while major cities are marked with coins of LTL 5, 2, and 1.

Another wall of the Room of Cents shows a large model of the litas, under which a throne all covered in cents is placed, available for guests to sit down for a picture.

The idea to memorialize Lithuania's national currency this way occurred to a group of people from the Union of NGOs of Siauliai County.
