TAVA spokeswoman Anita Priedite explains that the Latvian stand ''Latvia. Best Enjoyed Slowly'', or Lettland. Nimm Dir die Zeit" in German, usually has many persons visiting it and receives many compliments. ''That is why it is important for us to understand why there were less people visiting the stand this year,'' she pointed out.
Some of those visiting the stand talked about their previous travel experiences to Latvia, while others did not hide that they will not be travelling to Latvia due to the current geo-political situation.
Meanwhile, some said that they do not see any dangers to travelling to Latvia while others even said that they intend on travelling to the Baltics this year ''while they still can'', TAVA informs.
The ''Reisen Hamburg 2015'' tourism exhibition took place from February 3 to 8.
Germany is a high priority market for the Latvian tourism industry. According to the Central Statistical Bureau, there was a 37% increase in the number of German tourists visiting the country last year, reaching almost 150,000.
