Latvian PM receives invitation to World Economic Forum in Davos

Prime Minister of Latvia Laimdota Straujuma (Unity) has received an official invitation to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Straujuma's press secretary Aiva Rozenberga told LETA.

Straujuma's participation is scheduled for January 23.

 

Organizers of the event previously said that the forum will be attended by a record-high number of visitors – more than 2,500, including 300 heads of state and government, and 1,500 business leaders from than 140 countries.

 

High-ranking delegations from China, the United States, Japan, and Russia will also participate in the forum.

 

Meanwhile, Latvian President Andris Berzins was not invited to the said event. Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite will be one of the main speakers there.

 

Latvia was previously represented at the World Economic Forum by former Latvian presidents Vaira Vike-Freiberga and Valdis Zatlers.
