All Latvian ministries have submitted their budget plans for 2015-2017

All ministries have submitted their spending projections for 2015-2017 to the Finance Ministry, as the Finance Ministry's spokesman Aleksis Jarockis told LETA.

The Finance Ministry will collate the data and present them to the government. The ministries' latest spending projections are based on the government's decision to increase the 2015 state budget.

 

The government decided previously that budget spending in 2015 would be increased by almost EUR 240 million as compared to 2014. This amount includes government's decisions on extra funding to be allocated from next year's budget, new policy initiatives in the amount of EUR 133.2 million, and other priority measures that will cost EUR 46.5 million in total.

 

The Defense Ministry's budget will be raised EUR 37.9 million next year in order to increase the capacity of the Armed Forces and Home Guard, and set up a rapid reaction unit. The Interior Ministry's budget will increase EUR 21.3 million, primarily to increase salaries for employees in the internal affairs system.

 

The Health Ministry's budget will rise EUR 31.1 million to improve access to healthcare services in the regions, reduce patients' payments, and increase wages for low-level employees.

 

The Education and Science Ministry's budget will increase almost EUR 31.4 million, plus additional EUR 3 million meant to increase teachers' salaries from next September.


The Transport Ministry's budget will be increased EUR 32.6 million, with the additional funds meant for road maintenance and repairs, and transport subsidies.

 

The Agriculture Ministry wants its budget to increase EUR 33 million next year, and Culture Ministry is seeking additional EUR 3.7 million.
