Loans converted from litas to euro to become more expensive

BC, Vilnius, 08.10.2014.Print version
Base interest rate will become by 1% more expensive since 2015 when loans obtained in the litas will be converted to the euro, informs LETA/ELTA.

Bank Swedbank announced that mitigating the appreciation of loans the bank will apply a two-year transitional period, during which the actual interest rate growth will reach 0.2%. Those who obtained loans in the euro will not feel the appreciation.

Customers are angered by the appreciation of interest and say that some banks which do not take into account the country's economic indicator will convert the loans to the euro without appreciation. People who wish to refinance loans will be able to do so without penalties, reports website vz.lt.
