Lithuania's central government surplus in August at EUR 23 mln

Based on the data of the Ministry of Finance, in the first eight months of 2014 the central government deficit amounted to LTL 1.2 billion (EUR 348 million) and was by LTL 835 million (EUR 242 million) or 0.7% of GDP lower than in the first eight months of 2013, informs LETA/ELTA.

Eight month central government revenue totalled LTL 22.56 billion (EUR 6.53 billion), while expenditure – LTL 22.92 billion (EUR 6.63 billion). Non-financial asset transactions in January-August stood at LTL 842 million (EUR 244 million).

 

For the first eight months, 49.3% of the central government revenue came from taxes, 40.5% from social contributions. During this period, social payments and grants accounted for the biggest portion of expenditure, 51.1 and 16.3% respectively.

 

In August, the central government surplus stood at LTL 78 million (EUR 23 million), i.e. at 0.06% of the projected GDP for 2014. The central government revenue in August was LTL 2.69 billion (EUR 780 million), expenditure – LTL 2.51 billion (EUR 726 million), whereas non-financial asset transactions amounted to LTL 108 million (EUR 31 million).

 

In August, primary government sector revenue came from taxes (46.4%) and social contributions (42.2%). The biggest part of expenditure was for social payments (58.2%).
