Estonian government reaches agreement on 8.5 bln euro state budget for 2015
Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas said that the budget is conservative and supportive of economic growth. He said that the priorities of the government have a firm funding available.
"Compared to budget strategy decided upon in spring, the structural surplus is bigger by 0.6% of GDP," the Prime Minister said. "The state has no need to take a loan next year. The budget surplus is needed to keep the country's finances in good order and ensure certainty for the future. "
National defence budget forms next year over two percent of GDP. Costs of receiving allied forces are added to the 2% level agreed upon with NATO allies.
The government decided on Tuesday to increase investments in border security, for accelerating court proceedings and continuing emergency medical aid reform.
The government will make a decision on the draft budget on Tuesday, September 23, after which the draft will be submitted to the parliament.
