Over 60% Estonians cannot save from monthly wages

A fresh poll by CV Keskus indicates that a whole 63% of Estonian people cannot save anything from their monthly wages, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

The study indicated also a very big wage gap, since the amount of people who save hundreds of euros a month was also surprisingly high.

While 63% of the respondents cannot save anything, 20% can save more than 100 euros and 9% over 500 euros a month.

Marketing manager of CV Keskus Henry Auväärt stressed that the inability to have savings is a strong sign of danger. "Without knowing the causes and background of the lack of possibility to save, we can see the dissatisfaction of Estonians with the current wage figures," he said.

"Such a situation gives the power again to the employer since without any savings, changing jobs would be a very bold step for an employee," he noted.

2,612 people were polled in March. 78% were employed, 13% were unemployed and 9% pupils or students.
