Bank of Lithuania launches new coin

The national bank of Lithuania has launched a coin, dedicated to the 150th Anniversary of the 1863–1864 Uprising, the Bank of Lithuania said in a statement, cites LETA/ELTA.

The obverse of the coin bears the coats-of-arms of the 1863 - 1864 Uprising with the inscriptions 'Lietuva' ('Lithuania') and 2013 above it, and 50 Litu (50 litas) at the bottom. It also features the mintmark of the Lithuanian Mint on the coin.

 

The reverse of the coin bears artistically depicted arms; at the top, the inscription 1863-1864 SUKILIMAS (the 1863–1864 Uprising) is written in a semi-circle.

 

Specifications of the coin are as follows: Silver Ag 925; the quality is proof; diameter amounts to 38.61 mm; weight totals 28.28 grams.

 

The coin is designed by Vidmantas Valentas and Giedrius Paulauskis.
