Latvia's external debt at LVL 20.638 billion at end of Q3 2008

External debt stood at LVL 17.496 billion in the respective period of time last year, informs LETA.
The government's long-term external debt reached LVL 995.3 million at the end of Q3. The bulk of long-term external debt is composed by government bonds and notes, which total LVL 719.2 million. Long term debts amount to LVL 265.3 million. The rest of the sum – LVL 10.7 million comprises other liabilities.
The central bank's short-term loans stood at LVL 4.4 million. Currency and deposits – at LVL 3.9 million. Other liabilities were LVL 500,000.
Banks' total external debt amounted to LVL 13.524 billion, including short-term debt of LVL 5.981 billion. Short-term debts stood at LVL 2.493 billion at the end of Q3 this year, currency and deposits – at LVL 3.357 billion. Other liabilities were LVL 130.1 million.
The total sum of banks' long-term external trade debt was LVL 7.543 billion, of which LVL 7.399 billion were loans. Bonds and notes made up LVL 143.3 million.
The external debt in other sectors made up LVL 4.326 billion altogether, of which LVL 1.311 billion were short term debts. Loans constituted LVL 348.4 million, trade credits – LVL 810.4 million, other liabilities – LVL 152.5 million. Long-term debts totalled LVL 3.015 billion, of which LVL 9.2 million were bonds and promissory notes, LVL 3.005 billion were loans.
The number of direct investments amounted to LVL 1.788 billion.
