Estonia’s PM: talk about new Greek aid package is hypothetical

BC, Tallinn, 18.09.2013.Print version
Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip said in the Riigikogu on Wednesday that there is no firm decision about the third aid package to Greece at the moment and thus, it is too early to speak about figures, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

Ansip noted that German finance minister Wolfgang Schäuble is certainly a bigger expert in Greek issues but even he speaks with uncertainty about the possible third Greek aid package.

Ansip reminded that the final deadline of financing of the second package is at the end of January 2014 for Greece.

"The whole talk about the third Greek package is extremely hypothetical," said Ansip, adding that it isn’t certain that package will ever come.

"We must of course know that Estonia is not the one that will start granting additional loans. The talk is about ESM," he said.

Last week, Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip confirmed in an interview to Reuters that Estonia is ready to participate in the third support package to Greece if need be and can help other states too.
