Portfolio investment has negative flow in Lithuania in April

Print versionIn April 2013, negative flow of the net portfolio investment in Lithuania totaled 631.1 million litas, in January-April it was 1.9 billion litas, the Bank of Lithuania said in a statement. In April, the flow was equally influenced both by a rise in foreign assets and a fall in liabilities, writes LETA.

In January – April, the net outflow of portfolio investment was mainly affected by the redemption by the government sector of an issue of long-term debt securities.
In April and January – April 2012, the net flows of portfolio investment inflows stood at 1.5 billion litas and six billion litas, respectively.
The net inflow of other investment and financial derivatives into Lithuania amounted to 1.7 billion litas, in January-April – a mere 12.9 milllion litas (year-on-year, an outflow of net investment was recorded, which made respectively 70.6 million litas, and 4.3 billion litas).
