PM's priorities for 2014 budget in Latvia – reducing poverty and improving demography, healthcare and infrastructure

BC, Riga, 18.06.2013.Print version
When drafting the 2014 national budget, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis' (Unity) priorities will be reducing poverty and inequality, improving demography, health care and infrastructure in Latvia, informs LETA.

Salary increases for healthcare workers will also be considered, the prime minister pointed out in an interview with Latvian State Television this morning.

LVL 50-60 million or slightly more could be allotted to implement new motions. 50% of this sum could be allotted to index pensions, explained Dombrovskis.

The government's plans of reducing labor taxes remain in force. However, as indicated by international experts, the Reform Party's solution of reducing personal income tax from 24% to 22% is not the most optimal one. There is no reason to ignore better solutions, added the prime minister.
