Print versionDue to the quick reaction of the government, Parex banka is becoming more stable, Prime Minister Ivars Godmanis (Latvia's First Party/Latvia's Way) told members of the press today after a government meeting.

Godmanis emphasized that due to the government's quick reaction, there has been a reduction in the pace in which money is being withdrawn from the bank. The prime minister especially pointed out to the professionalism of the Finance Ministry and the head of the Latvian Mortgage and Land Bank Inesis Feiferis, which is a major reason why the bank has become more stable, informs LETA.
As reported, the government decided on November 8 to take over 51% controlling interest in Parex banka.
