Print versionToday, the European Commission transferred Latvia's declared EUR 55.5 million (LVL 39 million) European Regional Development and Cohesion fund payments to the country's budget, the Finance Ministry informed LETA.
This is the first installment of around EUR 90 million (LVL 63.25 million) that the country has declared in the said funds since December 2011, but has not received due to the European Commission temporary suspending EU payments to Latvia. The remaining EUR 34.5 million (LVL 24.25 million) will be transferred in the nearest future.
As reported, the European Commission, recognizing Latvia's accomplishments in ensuring control over EU fund payments, has decided to lift temporary restrictions on funding from the Cohesion and European Regional Development funds.
The final decision on the European Social Fund has not been made yet.
