Lithuanian reserve assets increased by 0.6% in September 2008

Print versionOfficial reserve assets of Lithuania made up 15.6 billion litas (4.5 billion euro) at the end of September 2008, which is 0.6% more in comparison with the previous month, the Bank of Lithuania announced.

The growth of official reserve assets was driven by an increase in central government deposits with the Bank of Lithuania and other factors by 457.4 million litas and 149.9 million litas, respectively.
The growth of official reserve assets lessened due to a decrease in deposits of other MFIs with the Bank of Lithuania, and currency in circulation, respectively by 409 million litas and 84.7 million litas, also due to a slump of 23.1 million litas in external liabilities of the Bank of Lithuania.
