Rietumu banka: EU funds will attract foreign investors to Latvia
Print version
"Larger foreign businessmen perhaps will not be impressed by these subsidies. The current programs envisage EUR 4 million (LVL 2.8 million) funding per project. However, even this amount, transferred almost immediately after the project's implementation, offers good support for the establishment of a new company or the expansion of already existing operations, emphasized Lokomet.
There are also other aspects that could attract foreign investors. For CIS producers, Latvia is a window to Europe and a potential "Made in EU" label on their products, writes LETA.
"I believe that there is already good basis for potential investors which will only expand in the future – people with Latvian residency permits. Initially, many of them applied for the permits for more convenient travelling, however, in time, they became aware of business opportunities in Latvia. The changes in the Immigration Law not only ensure new residents, but also active businessmen who will develop Latvia's economy," pointed out Lokomet.
