Unemployment insurance benefits in Estonia amounted to record level of 29 mln kroons

Print versionIn May 2008 the Unemployment Insurance Fund paid a total of 29 million kroons of compensations in three different categories – almost just as much as during the first five months of the previous year.
The most – a total of 15.2 million kroons – were paid to people who lost their work. Unemployment insurance benefits are paid for unemployed individuals during the time they are looking for work for partially compensating the loss of income, writes Postimees Online/LETA.
The amounts paid in May for both redundancy compensation as well as insolvency compensation were nearly as high as the payments made during the first five months of the previous year in total.
In total there were 4,432 recipients of unemployment insurance benefits in May 2008.
