Collection of sales tax of Estonian Tallinn will cost 6 mln kroons a year

The collection of the new sales tax, which Tallinn intends to establish from July 1 will cost 6 mln kroons a year, informs LETA referring Eesti Päevaleht Online

The city of Tallinn and the Estonian Tax and Customs Board concluded on Monday a cooperation memorandum according to which the city will outsource from the Tax and Customs Board the IT solutions and experiences for collecting the tax, i.e. the Board will offer the city the service of administering the collection of the tax.

 

The Tax Board’s Media Relations Chief Specialist Annely Erm said that the board doesn’t intend to employ extra staff for the purpose.

 

Initially the city planned to collect the tax itself. The city hopes to collect 150 mln kroons a year of the tax.

 

The new tax: 1% on the majority of goods and services, to be paid by sellers/providers, will be introduced on July 1.
