Latvian banking sector makes EUR 254.981 mln profit in 10 months

The Latvian banking sector closed the first ten months of 2017 with EUR 254.981 million in profit, according to the information from the Latvian financial regulator, the Finance and Capital Market Commission (FKTK), cites LETA.

In October the banking sector posted EUR 11.09 million in profit.

 

Thirteen Latvian banks and three branches of foreign banks showed profit in the first ten months of this year, according to FKTK.

 

At the end of October 2017, banking assets totaled EUR 28.537 billion, down 3.3% or EUR 959.059 million from the end of 2016, and up 3.7% or EUR 0.13 billion from the end of September this year.

 

Banks in Latvia held EUR 20.143 billion in deposits at the end of October 2017, down 5.7% or EUR 1.215 billion from the end of 2016 and by 1.6% or EUR 326.421 million more month-on-month.

 

The banking sector's aggregate loan portfolio reached EUR 14.656 billion at the end of October, shrinking 3.1% or EUR 473.34 million from the end of 2016 and growing 0.8% or EUR 109.233% from September 2017.

 

In the first ten months of 2016 Latvian banking sector profit was EUR 408.748 million.
