Number of active customers in Latvian banks drops 2.5% in H1
1.993 million bank customers were private individuals at the end of June
2017 – 2.2% down from 2016, while 189,700 customers were legal entities - a
reduction of 4.9%.
Swedbank had the highest
number of active customers at the end of June – 956,100, a decrease of 0.4% on
2016. SEB Banka had 439,600 clients
(4.6% down), and Citadele had 277,100
clients (1.1% down).
DNB Banka had 160,300
active clients at the end of last year (1.3% down on 2016), Nordea Bank's branch in Latvia had
89,100 clients (11.1% decrease), Norvik
Banka – 78,300 clients (4.7% decrease), BigBank
Latvian branch – 64,600 clients (6.3% increase), Meridian Trade Bank – 28,900 clients (2.3% decrease), PrivatBank – 27,900 clients (16.7%
decrease), and ABLV Bank – 21,600
clients (4.4% decrease).
A bank customer is considered active if his or her bank account was used
for at least two transactions over the past six months, except for paying bank
commissions.
