BC, Tallinn, 22.05.2017.Print version
Estonian central government pays the software company Microsoft nearly 4.8 million euros a year, according to calculations made by the daily Eesti Paevaleht writes LETA/BNS.

At the same time the newspaper noted that the sum total may turn out to be even higher, as the estimate of 4.8 mln euros offered by the newspaper is based only on data which it had access to.

For example, the Ministry of Education and Research seems to be spending only 100,000 euros, but their jurisdiction also includes Estonian schools, who decide for themselves what software to use, and there is no national database on that.

Microsoft software is also used by municipalities and state institutions, which the newspaper's estimate did not cover.
