Fiscal space in Latvia`s budget is EUR 70 mln - PM

The fiscal space in next year’s budget is EUR 70 mln, Latvian Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis (Greens/Farmers) told LETA after the government meeting on Tuesday.

The prime minister said that the government agreed on the fiscal space in next year’s budget, and it would be EUR 70 mln. The ministries now have to agree on the priority areas which will receive the financing. Kucinskis said that the fiscal space does not include the additional financing to education worth EUR 27 mln and the health care sector of EUR 35 mln.


Kucinskis also said that the government had discuss the solidarity tax, but no decisions have been made in this respect. “A compromise should be reached on how to replace the solidarity tax to make the business environment more attractive,” said the prime minister.
