Latvian Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis (Greens/Farmers) today met with Kapars Abolins, the head of the Treasury, who declined the offer to become the new chief of the State Revenue Service.

Today Kucinskis met also with Kolegova and listened to her ideas about the future work of the State Revenue Service. Kolegova’s candidacy will once more be discussed with Finance Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola (Greens/Farmers) next week, when she returns from a vacation. The finance minister will have the decisive say in the choice of the new head of the State Revenue Service.

As reported, a tender to appoint the Latvian State Revenue Service's new general director has ended without any results as none of the four candidates shortlisted in the second round of tender had been fit for the next round and the commission reported that the tender has ended with no results.

An agreement has been reached to look for candidates among top managers in the public administration who could be rotated to the top position at the State Revenue Service.

On May 30 this year Inara Petersone, who had been serving as the director general of the State Revenue Service since October 2013, tendered her resignation effective as of June 27.
