Kaspars Cerneckis, State Revenue Service’s deputy general director in the area of combating crime, has been rotated to the position of the director of the tax debt enforcement department, said State Revenue Service General Director Inara Petersone in a press conference on May 3rd, informs LETA.

In total, 39 State Revenue Service employees, including 22 managers, will be rotated – 18 managers will rotate to other positions within the Revenue Service by May 11, and four other managers will work in other structures.

Petersone also said that the Financial Police and Customs Police will be merged in one structural unit – Tax Police.

Prime Minister Maris Kucinskis (Greens/Farmers) said that the Revenue Service has done what has been promised. „The changes have been launched. Further steps should result in transparent and efficient work. This is the right way to promote changes in public administration,” he said.

Finance Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola (Greens/Farmers) underscored that this is just the first step in the process of restructuring the Revenue Service.

As reported, Petersone submitted to Finance Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola (Greens/Farmers) an evaluation of the Financial Police and Revenue Service employees, and suggestions on which employees, suspected of official misconduct, should be released from their jobs.

Petersone has been ordered by Finance Minister Dana Reizniece-Ozola to identify and get rid of dishonest Revenue Service officers, as well as rotate the heads and deputy heads of four Revenue Service's departments. In the future, the rotation should take place regularly.
