8% Latvians don't have a bank account

Print versionOnly 8% of Latvia's population do not have a bank account, informs LETA, according to the poll carried out by SKDS pollster in January 2016.

Most of the respondents or 72% have an account only in one bank, 15% have accounts in two banks and 3% have accounts in three or more banks.
Respondents with higher education, residents of the Latvian capital Riga or other Latvian cities tend to have more than one bank account while people living in rural areas usually have only one bank account.
Those, who do not have any bank account, are mostly elderly people.
