Producer prices in Latvia down 0.5% in August 2015

In August, producer prices in Latvia declined 0.5 % from July, which was the fifth smallest reduction in the EU, according to the latest report released by the EU statistical office Eurostat, writes LETA.

Overall, producer prices fell in all EU countries, except Denmark and Estonia, where producer prices fell by 1.7 % and 0.6 % respectively. In Cyprus, producer prices remained unchanged.

The largest monthly reduction in producer prices was registered in Greece - 3.2 %, followed by the Netherlands - 2.4 %, Lithuania - 1.9 %, Spain - 1.7 %, and Great Britain - 1.6 %.


In all the EU member states for which data are available, producer prices decreased 0.9 % August from July, and the eurozone - by 0.8 %.


Compared to August 2014, producer prices in the EU decreased 3.4 % and in the eurozone by 2.6 %.


In year-on-year comparison, producer prices in Latvia reduced by 2.1 %, but in Estonia and Lithuania by 3.3 % and 9.8 %, respectively.
