Revenue Service unlawfully collected EUR 5.8 million in personal income tax in 2014

BC, Riga, 01.10.2015.Print version
Latvian Revenue Service may have unlawfully collected EUR 5.8 million in personal income tax in 2014, the State Audit Office has concluded, writes LETA.

According to auditors, the error was due to not applying non-taxable minimum income provision to 41,032 persons by the Revenue Service.

The Audit Office notes that the Revenue Service's communication with taxpayers should have been better. According to Auditor General Elita Krumina, the Revenue Service is regularly late with repaying personal income tax amounts overpaid by taxpayers, and the situation has only got worse.
