BC, Vilnius, 20.08.2015.Print version
In the first seven months of 2015 year-on-year, the deficit of the State Social Insurance Fund (Sodra) budget in Lithuania was by around 30% lower, reports LETA/ELTA.

In January-July 2015, Sodra's revenue totalled EUR 1.78 billion. This is by 7.8%, or EUR 127.7 million, more than in the same period of 2014, but by 0.7%, or EUR 12.1 million, less than projected.

"Reduction of Sodra's deficit was one of the primary tasks, thus now we can talk about raising pensions," Social Security and Labour Minister Algimanta Pabedinskiene said in a statement.

According to the minister, the social model submitted to Parliament provides for annual indexation of pensions taking into account economic, remuneration, Sodra's budget and other indicators. Therefore, she says it would be logical to increase pensions already in 2016.

Sodra's seven-month expenditure in 2015 amounted to EUR 1.94 billion. This is by 3%, or EUR 57 million, more than in the same period of 2014, but by 1.6%, or EUR 31 million, less than projected.

In January-July 2015, Sodra's budget deficit was EUR 159.9 million. It was lower by 30.7%, or EUR 70 million, compared to January-July 2014. It was also by 10.6%, or EUR 18.9 million, lower than projected.
