In June, loans to households for consumption in Lithuania stood at EUR 656 mln

In June 2015 the Bank of Lithuania's holdings of debt securities, issued by euro area residents, and loans to euro area residents increased by EUR 211.0 million and EUR 3.7 million respectively. At the end of the month, these indicators amounted to EUR 1.9 billion and EUR 592.1 million respectively, reports LETA/ELTA Lithuania's central bank.

In June, euro area resident deposits held at the bank of Lithuania increased by EUR 1.2 billion, and at the end of the month amounted to EUR 2.9 billion.

 

In June, the loans of other monetary financial institutions (MFIs) to Lithuanian residents, excluding MFIs, increased by EUR 141.3 million and amounted to EUR 16.9 billion at the end of the month. The deposits of Lithuanian residents, excluding MFIs, in other MFIs decreased by EUR 124.4 million and at the end of the month amounted to EUR 16.0 billion. Loans of other MFIs to Lithuanian resident households for house purchase, consumption and other purposes increased by EUR 34.6 million, EUR 7.9 million and EUR 11.2 million respectively.

 

In June 2015, the euro area external assets of the Bank of Lithuania increased by EUR 1.1 billion, while the external liabilities decreased by EUR 4.1 million. These indicators at the end of the month amounted to EUR 2.6 billion and EUR 231.7 million respectively, the Bank of Lithuania said.

 

Over the month, the Bank of Lithuania's holdings of debt securities, issued by euro area residents, and loans to euro area residents increased by EUR 211.0 million and EUR 3.7 million respectively. At the end of June these indicators amounted to EUR 1.9 billion and EUR 592.1 million respectively. In June the Bank of Lithuania's holdings of investment fund shares/units, issued by euro area residents, contracted by EUR 37.5 million, while holdings of equity instruments, issued by euro area residents, remained unchanged. At the end of the month these indicators amounted to EUR 521.2 million and EUR 207.2 million respectively.

 

In June, currency in circulation (the definition is provided in the section "Notes" of this Survey) increased by EUR 44.4 million and at the end of the month amounted to EUR 5.8 billion. Euro area resident deposits held with the Bank of Lithuania, as well as the capital and reserves of the Bank of Lithuania increased by EUR 1.2 billion and EUR 15.2 million respectively over the month. At the end of June these indicators amounted to EUR 2.9 billion and EUR 687.2 million respectively.

 

In June 2015, other MFIs' loans to Lithuanian residents, excluding MFIs, increased by EUR 141.3 million, because loans to non-financial corporations, households, as well as investment funds and other financial intermediaries increased by EUR 55.9 million, EUR 53.8 million, and EUR 34.3 million respectively. At the end of the month these loans amounted to EUR 7.5 billion, EUR 7.5 billion and EUR 780.9 million respectively. However, other MFI's loans to general government decreased by EUR 2.6 million, while loans to insurance undertakings and pension funds remained unchanged and at the end of the month amounted to EUR 1.1 billion and EUR 5.2 million, respectively.

 

Other MFI's loans to non-financial corporations, with an initial maturity of up to 1 year, over 1 and up to 5 years, such loans over 5 years increased by EUR 38.2 million, EUR 7.1 million and EUR 10.6 million respectively. At the end of the month, loans with a maturity of up to 1 year, over 1 and up to 5 years, and over 5 years amounted to EUR 1.4 billion, EUR 3.6 billion and EUR 2.4 billion respectively.

 

Loans of other MFIs to households for house purchase, consumption and other purposes increased by EUR 34.6 million, EUR 7.9 million and EUR 11.2 million respectively. At the end of June, loans to households for consumption, house purchase and other purposes amounted to EUR 656.1 million, EUR 6.0 billion and EUR 857.0 million respectively.
