Number of ATM machines in Latvia continues to reduce

BC, Riga, 25.06.2015.Print version
There were 1,058 ATMs in Latvia at the end of the Q1 of 2015, which is by ten less when compared to the end of 2014, according to the Bank of Latvia, writes LETA.

This due to optimization of ATM networks and subsidiary networks of credit institutions, says the Bank of Latvia.

At the end of Q1, there were 536 ATMs per mln. residents; in 2013 - 584.

While reducing the number of ATMs and expanding infrastructure for card payments (increasing the number of POS terminals in Latvia), credit institutions and merchants continued to improve the card payment service in order to facilitate non-cash transactions.
